Philosophy
Designed a
nd built by Salvatto Sound for the utmost in clarity,
our studios have been treated by Auralex Acoustics, using a computer-modeled mix of absorptive
, diffusive, and reflective materials. We did not completely "deaden" our studios because they're meant for rehearsal, NOT recording. In a good rehearsal room, you should be able to hear what everyone else is doing without the need for headphones, floor monitors, or punishing volume.
We like a nice Marshall stack, but in modest-sized studios (like ours) it makes no sense to have an amp that you can't play past "2". So most of our amps are smaller tube combos that you can get cranking and have all the parts of the sonic chain (preamp tubes, power tubes, and speaker) working hard to produce the best tone. You won't get a dozen amps to choose from, but you will find three or four flavors from well-maintained amps that you can position to your own liking.
Our Gallien-Krueger-powered bass rigs feed Harry Kolbe and David Eden cabinets. Once again, the goal is clarity rather than the ability to loosen dental fillings.
We know that a good drumkit with fresh, tuned heads, and well-maintained hardware is far better than a great drumset that's been neglected. And we complement ours with Axis kick pedals, fresh felts and sleeves on the cymbal stands, Evans E-rings, and a full menu of Zildjian cymbals (below). Where else do drummers get this kind of service?
